The fine print
The agreement between you and InLibrus™. Please read it: using the Service means you accept it.
Effective date: July 10, 2026. Last updated: July 10, 2026.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and InLibrus™ ("InLibrus," "we," "us," or "our"), the InLibrus™ service and its owner, an individual based in Tennessee, United States, governing your access to and use of the InLibrus™ website and hosted service (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. The Service is intended only for adults and is not directed to minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; in particular, consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect it from children under 13, and we will delete any such information we discover. By using the Service you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to accept these Terms.
InLibrus™ is an artificial-intelligence Narrator, powered by Anthropic's Claude models. When you play, you are interacting with AI, not a human. The Service generates fictional narrative continuations of existing works of literature, dialogue, and outcomes automatically. AI output can be inaccurate, inconsistent, or unexpected, and it is fiction for entertainment only. It is not a substitute for reading the original work, and factual assertions in output (including about the source book, its author, or history) should not be relied upon without independently checking their accuracy.
The Service is offered as a private beta. It is provided on an "as available" basis, may change, break, or be unavailable, and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice. Features, limits, the library of playable books, and pricing may change. We may add, remove, or reset content and accounts during the beta. During the beta, the playable library is limited to books we have curated and pre-loaded; the Service does not accept uploads of your own book files. Requesting access does not guarantee you will receive it.
Access is by invitation and is granted through a third-party sign-in (Cloudflare Access). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your sign-in and for all activity under your account. Do not share access or attempt to access another user's account or data. We may suspend or terminate access at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms.
Because the Service is built on Anthropic's Claude, your use must also comply with Anthropic's Usage Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. In addition, you agree not to:
You are solely responsible for the inputs you provide and the way you direct the Service, including any content-rating settings you choose. Mature content settings are opt-in and intended for consenting adults.
You retain ownership of the original inputs and choices you create during play ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to host, store, process, transmit, and display Your Content as needed to operate the Service for you (including sending it to our AI provider to generate responses). You are responsible for Your Content and represent that you have the right to provide it. We make no ownership claim to the narrative output of your individual playthroughs, but the InLibrus engine, software, canon materials, prompts, UI, and brand remain ours (Section 7). The underlying text of the public-domain books themselves is, and remains, in the public domain.
The Service, including its software, the InLibrus engine, engine rules, prompts, canon materials (beat sheets, visibility graphs, character analysis), UI, and brand assets, is the proprietary property of InLibrus™ and its owner and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. "InLibrus" and the InLibrus™ logo are trademarks of their owner. Except for the rights expressly granted to use the Service, no license to our intellectual property is granted. The original text of the public-domain books playable through the Service is not owned by anyone, including us. InLibrus is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic, PBC, Project Gutenberg, or any author's estate or publisher. "Claude" and "Anthropic" are trademarks of Anthropic, PBC, used here only to describe the technology that powers the Service.
The Service depends on third-party providers (including Anthropic and Cloudflare). Your use may also be subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services. See our Privacy Policy for how these providers process information.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty regarding the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service or its output. You use the Service at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, InLibrus™ and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the claim or fifty U.S. dollars (US$50).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless InLibrus™ and its owner from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without cause. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6–7 and 9–14) will survive.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify users. Your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Tennessee for any dispute that is not otherwise subject to an alternative resolution agreed in writing.
